Bella Thorne Got Real About Acne and it Paid Off

Her honesty landed her a new partnership

Bella Thorne is hugely popular on social media mainly due to the fact that she’s always super honest. Boasting a cool 6.5 million followers on Twitter, she tweets fun things like, “I slept right next to my burrito..today is gonna be a good day,” as well as serious things like reminding her followers that “we all the same #slaybabyslay.”

Recently, Bella took to Instagram (14.8 million followers, no big deal) to talk about her acne difficulties.

“It’s no secret I struggle w acne,” she wrote in the caption. “Sometimes it’s clear and sometimes it’s just not. I’m very self conscious and constantly feeling bad about myself. BUT I shouldn’t feel bad. It is normal to have acne. EVERY1 does! It’s only our society and social media outlets like this one that tells us we have to have ‘perfect skin’ to be considered socially acceptable.”

Bella’s always been really open about her skin’s ups and downs on social media (like the time she posted a picture of her collarbone on Snapchat with the text, “Pimple so big it looks like a hickey”). It’s hugely inspirational to her followers who share the same difficulties to see someone in the spotlight being so open about it, and her reminder to “#ownit #beyou #acne #purebeauty #nofilter #lol” means a lot to people struggling with body positivity.

The skincare brand Biore took notice of Bella and tapped her to be their newest ambassador, joining fellow TV actress Shay Mitchell. Speaking to PeopleStyle, Bella said, “I’m excited about this partnership. I hope I help somebody out there because I’m spreading the word.”
