The best place to store your nail polish is upright in a cool place. Temperatures in constant flux (like your steamy bathroom) are no good for your nail polish, as it may reduce its shelf life. Fortunately, there are tons of cute ways to store your polish from shelves to display units!

Before you open the bottle to apply the first coat of your mani, it’s a good idea to roll the bottle back and forth a few times in your hands to make sure the polish is evenly mixed. This also warms up the product for a smoother application.

If your nail polish gets thick and hard to apply, don’t add nail polish remover. This won’t make your polish any easier to apply. If you want to bring an old polish back to life, add a few drops of nail polish thinner.

When you’re putting your polish away, make sure the cap is on as tightly as possible. Leaks out of the bottle or even into the cap can lead to a sticky situation.

Caring for your polish collection takes minimal effort and can save you lots of money replacing ruined bottles. Nail polish is one of the longest-lasting beauty tools, which means if you keep your bottles in good condition, they’ll be part of your collection for years.
