The Miley Cyrus we know and see today feels completely different from the Miley Cyrus of just a few years ago.
With her latest single “Malibu” out now and an album on the way, the former Hannah Montana star is embracing a new side of herself in order to be taken more seriously in both the music world and the political world. This includes leaving behind a makeup artist and taking the primping into her own hands.

Speaking of her circa-2013 looks, which were designed mainly for shock value and included crazy hairstyles and daring outfits, Miley told Teen Vogue, “It became something that was expected of me.”
It started out as a way to express the fact that “girls should be able to have this freedom,” she explains, but she became uncomfortable with the idea of it as time went on. Now, as evidenced by her Billboard and Harper’s Bazaar covers, she’s embracing a much more natural makeup look that’s she creating all on her own.
An overall understated cover look, Miley appears to be wearing just a little lip color and mascara with natural-looking penciled-in eyebrows – all of which are easy enough for her to do herself without the help of a makeup artist and a total departure from the heavier looks she used to rock.
We love Miley no matter what her makeup and clothes look like, but we’re thrilled to see her enjoying this new chapter of her life.
