Beach season can be stressful. We all *know* that bodies come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and numbers-of-stretch-marks, but it’s easy to forget that when you’re faced with an onslaught of “perfect” bodies that are only so “perfect” with a little (or a lot of) help from Photoshop.

That’s why Target’s new swimwear campaign is refreshingly awesome. The retailer opted to release the images totally untouched, which means you can see things like rolls of flesh and stretch marks (you know, stuff we all have that companies usually Photoshop out of their ad campaigns).

“Target is committed to empowering women to feel confident in what they wear by offering a variety of style choices,” a spokeswoman for company, Jessica Carlson, told Refinery 29. “We loved working with these women because they embody confidence and inspire women to embrace and be proud of who they are, regardless of their size or shape. It was important to us to use photography that represented their true beauty, without filters.”
Target even made a point to cast unconventional models in the campaign, which stars dancer Megan Batoon, pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto, model/body activist Denise Bidot, and TV host/model Kamie Crawford.
Target deserves so much applause for this campaign. We want to see more of this.
