This Teen Made Her Own Prom Dress the Morning of Prom

Using just $15 of tulle

Shami Oshun is 17 years old and she just turned her prom into an episode of Project Runway. The California teen got to the night before her prom without a dress—so she went to the store, bought $15 worth of purple tulle, and MADE IT WORK, Teen Vogue reports.

“I didn’t really have an idea of what the dress was going to look like,” she told BuzzFeed News. “I was worried it wasn’t going to be finished.”

She also documented her entire process on Twitter, and of course the thread went viral. She told BuzzFeed that her process took five hours and, by the morning of prom, she wasn’t finished, so she ended up sewing her tulle creation onto an existing dress she had, creating a unique, totally one-of-a-kind hybrid.

Shami paired the dress with a fierce beauty look that included metallic purple eye makeup.

And, halfway through the night, she had to ditch the bottom half of the dress because the floral embellishments on the skirt proved too heavy, so she got to rock not one, but two looks at the dance.

Goals. Shami, you are GOALS.
