How to Transition Your Winter Textures into Spring

Don't Put Your Cold Weather Faves into Storage Just Yet

Winter is all about luxe textures such as velvet, brocade, faux fur and sequins. Despite being excited about the warmer temps to come, you’re probably not yet ready to say goodbye to these wardrobe staples you’ve been fearlessly rocking. Here’s a breath of fresh air – you don’t have to put these pieces into storage just yet. Wear them into spring with these simple styling tricks.

1. Pair them with pastels.

Throw on a pastel piece over any item you are hoping to carry into spring. You can pair your tweed metallic mini with a periwinkle sleeveless top. Try a peacoat in a pastel tone if there’s still a chill in the air. This color family will lighten up your rich textures, deep jewel tones and even your darkest plaids – while keeping you warm if the weather calls for it. A pink pout is a perfect final touch.

2. Ditch the tights.

A blush sequin mini looks fresh with nude flats and a white button down shirt worn off the shoulder. You can easily revamp your glitzy New Year’s Eve mini by removing the tights or trading your over-the-knee boots for light colored flats.

3. Wear your chunky knits with a mini skirt or shorts.

Trade up your long pants for denim cutoffs to make your knit suitable sweater as winter fades away. Add a hat and sunnies, and take your Starbucks drink hot or cold. If you have the opposite situation going on and want to wear your leather pants, go with a chambray shirt on top.

4. Put sandals on your feet.

Let your feet do the talking, and wear a pair of platform sandals instead of ankle boots. This will set the tone for your entire outfit. Even if you’ve got on a pair of jeans and a sweater, your footwear will add a touch of spring.

5. Top your look with a fedora.

A brimmed hat gives a textured cardigan some warm weather appeal. The in-between weather calls for a hat to shade the sun as well as a sweater to fight the breeze. A colorful scarf around the base of a hat makes it fun.
