Ladies, this is your summer to employ some Beyonce-esque habits, making you better than ever for your next semester. Below, you’ll find some simple ways to make you and your day happier, healthier, and more productive. They’re also Successful Woman Endorsed, so, you know, that totally helps too.
1. Write intentions and goals
From Lauren Conrad to Arianna Huffington, successful women write down their weekly or daily goals. Unless you’re able to track your short-term goals, you’ll never be able to achieve those big long-term ones. Or, you might, but it will be a lot more difficult. Plus, what a great excuse to buy an adorable new notebook, right?

2. Eat a good breakfast
I know, I know. I avoided this one for years. I was just “too busy.” But not eating a healthy breakfast is like not changing the oil in your car and expecting it to run well. Your brain and body deserve better than that! Eating throughout the day will keep your energy up, and you’ll be more productive without those midday crashes. Plus, Beyoncé, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Swift, and Hillary Clinton all endorse starting the day with a healthy breakfast!
3. Unplug and unwind
Oprah takes a whole day off! Sundays are purely for piddling. If Oprah can take a day off, you can put down your phone and read for a few hours, right? We thought so.
4. Say no
This one’s my favorite because it’s difficult but so so freeing. Learn to say no to things you don’t want to do. In fact, Oprah recently made a vow to herself that she’d stop doing things she doesn’t want to do. From something as small as a phone conversation to something as big as investing in a company, if she doesn’t want to do it, she doesn’t. The important thing to remember is that if you’re saying yes to something you don’t want, you’re most likely saying no to something else in your life.
Meditation doesn’t have to be this big scary thing. It’s really just a way of clearing your mind, to allow space for all the great things you want to do instead of all the worry and anxiety. Try the app Headspace if you’re new to meditating. It will guide you through getting started. Oprah, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Lena Dunham all swear by meditation.
