Feeling those butterflies in your stomach before a first date is completely normal, and we’re here to help make your first date incredible. Here are seven ways to get ready for a first date with your crush!

1. Pick a place you’ll both enjoy

Location matters! Picking a place that you’ll both have a good time at is super important because at least you both will be able to have a good time and feel comfortable with where you’re at. Whether it’s at an arcade or spending time at the movies, the right place will make you both feel at ease on your first date.

2. Pick out your outfit a couple of days before

We all know what it’s like to have had a fashion dilemma and trust us, that’s the last thing you would want to be stressing out over before your first date. Pick out your outfit a couple of days in advance so this way you can already take that out of the things you have to worry about. Plus, if you pick out your outfit a few days ahead, you’ll be able to have some time to look it over and make some last minute adjustments that you wouldn’t be able to do if you picked out your outfit the day of.

3. Dress to the occasion

The last thing you want to do is wear a pair of shorts if you and your bae are going ice-skating for your first date. You’re going to be super cold! The best way to ace your first date is to feel comfortable and that includes what you’re wearing. If you’re going to the movies, maybe wear something more casual. If you’re going to a decked out dinner, maybe wear something more formal. Just remember, wear something that you’ll feel happy in.

4. Go with the flow

Don’t plan out everything for your first date, because if something doesn’t go as planned, you don’t want to be disappointed. You don’t have to plan out how conversations will go, just let things happen at its normal pace. When you go with the flow, things happen more naturally and you both won’t feel like you’re rushing into things or being forced to enjoy yourselves.

5. Get to know each other more

This is the time for both of you to get to know each other on a more personal level. First dates are great ice-breakers to learn what you both have in common, your differences, the things you guys enjoy, and just about anything and everything. It’s always fun to get to know more about a person when you’re talking about your interests.

6. Be yourself

The reason why your crush wants to go on a date with you to begin with is because of how fantastic you are and never forget that. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not. You’re you and that’s what makes you special. Show your outstanding personality and how fun you are to be with and the date will go phenomenal without you even having to try.
