How to Make Your First Date Memorable

Say goodbye to nerves, and hello to date #2

First dates can produce major butterflies, but they are also super important when it comes to connecting with your crush and making that all too important first impression.

Here are some sure-fire tips to help you make the most out of your first date.

1. Pick the best outfit

You want to pick an ensemble that makes him say “Wow,” but one that makes you feel good, too. Your best outfit doesn’t have to be the most glam or super sexy; it’s the outfit that brings out your best features (like your rad green eyes) and the one that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

2. Chat it up

The general purpose of a first date is to get to know your date better and to see whether your initial spark can move into something more. So head to the local coffee shop where you two can talk. Balance the convo with questions and funny observations about yourself (“I always sing like Sia while I’m in the car!”) and don’t forget to be yourself!

3. Don’t forget to have fun

Being nervous is super normal, but first dates are supposed to be fun! So do something silly, like going for a round of mini-golf, and don’t be afraid to show him your goofy sense of humor or laugh at yourself. The more fun you two have together, the more likely it is you are actually compatible.

4. Go in for the kiss – or not

The big first kiss might happen at the end of the first date – or it might not. Either outcome is totally okay! If you’re open to locking lips, move closer to him and keep eye contact. If he’s thinking the same, he’ll lean in. If you’re not comfortable with a kiss, a warm hug will do. Only do what makes you feel most comfortable.

5. Let him know you had a good time

After your kiss, or hug, goodbye, let him know how much you enjoyed yourself (if you did!). That way there’s no guessing whether or not you want to go out on a second date. Afterwards, wait for him to text you. If he’s interested, you’ll hear from him later that night. In the meantime, give yourself props for going out on an awesome date!
