Why A Single Valentine’s Day Could Actually Be the Best Valentine’s Day

Being Single Has its Benefits

There are plenty of reasons to LOVE February 14th, but there’s also plenty of reasons to dread it. If you don’t have a special someone to celebrate, don’t even stress. This holiday could actually be ten times better when you’re single and we’ve got 7 reasons why.

1. You Can’t Possibly Disappoint Yourself

You know how much money you have to splurge. You know what you want out of your special day. Unless “have a boyfriend by the 14th” was on the agenda, you will not fall short today. Something many couples feel on Valentine’s Day is to give them the perfect day, but each individual’s version of perfect differs. And sometimes the other one gets disappointed. On this special day, you don’t have to worry about coming up short. You make the day the way you want it!

2. You Won’t Go Broke Shopping For Someone

If you’re a giver, you probably spend a lot more than you should on your beloved. And you can’t help it, you’re in love! But being single means that you can keep all of that hard earned money and save it (or more realistically, spend it on yourself). Talk about a serious investment in your happiness.

3. All That Time Spent on V-Day Could Be Spent the Way YOU Want

Love is about sacrificing and compromising. Sure it’s got all the feelings, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without a few challenges. One of which could mean doing something you really don’t wanna do on Valentine’s Day. But instead of sucking it up and going somewhere you dread for your bf/gf, you can plan the perfect day. Whether that’s staring at the television all day, treating yourself to an amazing dinner or going to a concert! The day is yours to bend as you will.

4. You Can Actually Share the Love With More Than One Person

To this day, my best Vday was with my Dad when I was 12 (not weird, at all). He made us an at-home movie theater with a projector and we stayed up late on a school night watching Star Wars. When you’re not celebrating your “special one” you can celebrate with your “special manys”. Bake cookies with your Mom, gift a card for your Dad and give cute flowers to all of your friends. Spread the love!

5. You Don’t Have to Impress Anyone

Want to avoid washing your hair today? GO FOR IT! Feeling like gorging on all of that chocolate candy while wearing no pants? DO IT! You don’t have to impress anyone but yourself and if you can down that much candy, that’s pretty darn impressive.

6. You Can Watch Whatever Movie You Want

Contrary to Valentine’s Day propaganda, not all of us love rom coms. (Except me. I love them.) But if you want to watch a horror film, a drama or feel all of the feelings during Fifty Shades Darker, now you can! And now you don’t have to feel weird if you watch them by yourself.

7. Meeting Someone is a Huge Opportunity Today

Many anti-Valentine’s Day people will actually have parties and get-togethers for all those single people who don’t want to feel alone. And if you actually secretly do want a special someone, now’s your chance! They’re still technically your Valentine if you feel fireworks before midnight, right?
