It’s no secret that Emma Watson’s live-action Beauty and the Beast remake was a magical hit. Not only did it break box-office records, it made over $1 billion dollars worldwide (that’s like two hundred fifty million unicorn frappuccinos). While we rejoiced because this meant big news for more Disney live-action retellings, it also could mean even bigger news for Beauty and the Beast fans.

Emma Watson has officially made known her interest in starring in a Beauty and the Beast sequel. While promoting her new film The Circle, she told Access Hollywood she “would love to do a sequel.” Emma even has plans for the plot: “I always thought Belle would become a teacher,” she said. “She would run the library in the castle and open it up to the village. This was where I was going,” she added.
But how do the big dogs at Disney feel about the possibility of a sequel? Disney’s President of Production, Sean Bailey, has no official plans for a follow-up.
But there is hope! He told Deadline that there is a possibility for spinoffs and sequels, Beauty and The Beast just isn’t one of them…YET. We have a feeling if Emma stirs up enough hype to ignite a social media flurry, Disney might change their tune. We’ll just have to wait and see. And fret not, Disney currently has tons of live action remakes in the works, including Mulan, Dumbo, and 101 Dalmatians. Check out the full list here.
