Emma Watson Invents New Backstory For “Beauty and the Beast”

we can't wait to see this film

The Queen of Girl Power and book fairy Emma Watson stars in the up-coming, live action “Beauty and The Beast.” But her take on Belle is a little different than what fans of the animated classic are used to.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Emma explained the change and why she made it:

“I was like, ‘Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn’t fit in, other than she liked books. Also what is she doing with her time?’ So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, yeah, we made Belle an inventor.”

Only Emma Watson would find a way to make Belle more awesome! When she’s not acting, the twenty-six year old works as a UN Goodwill Ambassador and promotes gender equality around the world. (And all I do with my spare time is binge watch “Gilmore Girls” on Netflix.)

“Beauty and the Beast” premieres March 17, 2017. Check out newly released photos from “Beauty and the Beast” here.

Fingers crossed she sucker punches Gaston like Draco Malfoy.
