If you think “music festival” when you hear SXSW, it’s time to shake up your understanding. The film portion of our favorite Austin festival has a history of premiering soon-to-be blockbuster hits.

Last year, the festival was the first to screen the breakout 2016 films Keanu, Don’t Think Twice, and Sausage Party, and this year’s lineup looks just as promising. Here are the films (and tv shows) to look out for at SXSW 2017.
Directed by Katherine Fairfax Wright, Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall documents Todrick Hall’s journey as he launches his most ambitious project yet: Straight Outta Oz. We watch him struggle to write songs about growing up gay and black in small-town Texas, his difficult relationship with his mom, and the harsh realities of trying to make it in show business. With limited time and budget, the odds are against him, but Todrick’s passion and his team of talented performers overcome all obstacles to bring this story to the world.

2. Muppet Guys Talking: Secrets Behind the Show the Whole World Watched
In this documentary, five of the original muppet performers discuss how they created some of the world’s most iconic characters. You’ll see behind-the-scenes footage of the muppet inception days and hear secrets on how Jim Henson led his incredibly talented team and created the show the whole world watched.
3. Baby Driver
Packed with an all-star cast (Lily James, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Ansel Elgort), Baby Driver is a crime thriller that follows a talented getaway driver who is forced to take on a heist that is doomed to fail.
