Justin Bieber Opens Up About Interacting with Fans in New Clip

"If you're screaming and super overwhelming, it's hard for me to connect with you"

In a clip from the documentary, Justin explains that having security “creates space” and “a safe place” for him.

He also opens up about the way his fans approach him when they meet. Justin explained that his fans have grown with him, and learned that being calm and approachable makes it easier for him to connect with them.

“They actually want to act a little bit more sane so that maybe they get my attention….Because at this point, if you’re screaming and super overwhelming, it’s hard for me to kind of connect with you,” Bieber explained.

The clip also included an interview with Mikey Arana, Bieber’s director of security. Arana explained how in the early Bieber days, fans could become very overwhelming.

“I remember when I first started with him, it may sound crazy, but three, four little girls, emotional, they have so much strength that they would literally rip his shirt, take off his hoodie. And if it’s a big crowd, you could lose him in the crowd,” he explained.

Earlier this year, Bieber canceled all meet and greets before his shows, and recently made headlines when he walked off the stage after fans wouldn’t stop screaming during a show.
