Camila Cabello isn’t the only member of Fifth Harmony making sweet, sweet music outside of the powerful girl group. Lauren Jauregui just teamed up with Halsey for a pro-LGBTQ love song that we’re going to be listening to all summer long.

The track, “Strangers,” is on Halsey’s new album, hopeless fountain kingdom, which was released today.
Halsey stopped by the Zach Sang Show to talk about the song and why Lauren was the perfect person to collab on it.

“I just love that Lauren and I are two women who have a mainstream pop presence doing a love song for the LGBTQ community,” Halsey said. “It’s unheard of. It’s very rare to see it from a female perspective.”
It was incredibly important to Halsey to get the right person to sing with her on the track and Lauren hit all the marks, from her personal background to her sultry vocals.
“I was thinking to myself, if I want this song to be believable, it needs to be real, so I’m not going to put a girl on the song to sing who’s straight,” she explained. “I’m just not going to do it. So I reached out to Lauren, and she came in and she cut the vocal and it sounds awesome. Our voices sound really cool together because we both have really raspy voices. Mine’s a little more delicate than hers. Hers is like really powerful and big and raspy, and mine is kind of like light and raspy. But it’s really cool.”
Halsey’s instincts were spot-on because the song is perfect.
