We’ve been waiting for this one.

Ever since Riverdale premiered in January, every time we see Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse hang out in real life, we hope it means that their relationship has transitioned from the small screen to the real deal. Well, this finally might just be the case – and fans are freaking out.

The fan favorite couple was spotted by People Magazine at the Entertainment Weekly party in San Diego’s Comic-Con this past weekend “canoodling, holding hands and kissing.” Reinhart, who plays Betty to Sprouse’s Jughead, was even seen wearing his maroon blazer to keep warm – um, could that be any cuter?

Fans have long been hopeful about a “Bughead” romance off-screen, but Sprouse, 24, denied it, telling MTV in the spring that he and Reinhart are “strictly in the friend zone.”

Still fans grew suspicious of the budding photographer’s shots of Reinhart, 20, like the one he posted of her lounging among wildflowers in March. It was just too romantic to be seen as a casual moment between co-stars.

The former child star explained at the time, “Lili and I play characters who are dating, so just about any time she and I go out into the wilderness, it’s, ‘Oh, my god!’ Truthfully, I’m a sucker for friends, fashion and framing.”

On top of their beautiful photography, the two have also shared an adorably close friendship since they met filming their hit CW show last year. Reinhart has shown how well she can tell the difference between Sprouse and his twin brother, Dylan, in their childhood photos (wildly impressive, right?!) and they’re always bantering with each other on social media, only making fans ship them more.

Unfortunately, the cute banter may stop now that they’re involved romantically — or at least Sprouse won’t be discussing it with anyone.

“I am one of those guys that’s never ever going to talk about my private life with the public sphere,” he has explained to ELLE. “I mean people can talk about the Jughead as much as they want but when it comes to the personal relationships, I have spent much of my life separating work and play so I will continue to do so.”

Well, even if they do keep their budding relationship on the DL, we’ll at least get to see what’s going on with Bughead on October 11 when the show’s second season premieres.
