When Starbucks released its limited-edition “Unicorn Frappuccino,” the internet (and Instagram, in particular), went wild. After the success of the Unicorn Frapp, other mystical creature-inspired Frapps started popping up. First there was the Dragon Frapp and now, for your tastebud pleasure, is the Mermaid Frapp.

But here’s the catch: The Mermaid Frapp isn’t an official Starbucks drink the way the Unicorn Frapp was. You can’t just walk into your local Starbucks and ask for a Mermaid Frapp and expect anything but a blank stare from your barista in return.

The colorful, pinky-purple and green drink is the the creation of Jocelyn Freeman, the woman who runs the blog The Modern Barista. If you want to order your own, follow the rules laid out by StarbucksMelody: Ask for a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with three scoops of blackberry inclusions (if you’re ordering a grande). Great, now you’ve ordered the base, but you still need to get that green drizzle.
This is where things get more complicated. The drizzle consists of 8 pumps of white mocha, 3 cbs pumps toasted coconut, and 3 scoops of matcha, according to Starbucks melody. If that sounds like a lot of work, it’s because it is and it might not be your barista’s favorite thing to concoct (especially if you’re at Starbucks during a busy time). If that’s the case, ask for whipped cream with matcha sprinkled on top to get a little of that mermaid green in your drink.
And voila! Mermaid frapp. Now, waiting to see if Starbucks makes this an official menu item.
