Speaking to Billboard, Miley revealed the first single “Malibu” from the forthcoming album comes out next Thursday, May 11th. Since her rise to fame, Miley has released the albums Meet Miley Cyrus (2007), Breakout (2008), Can’t Be Tamed (2010), Bangerz (2013), and Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015). Billboard promises “Malibu” will sound like “gimmick-free pop-rock unlike anything she has recorded before.”
Miley, who’s a coach on NBC’s The Voice and also an outspoken political activist, is ready to clean up her image and allow people to take her more seriously.

“I love talking to people, and I approach them in a normal, ‘Don’t treat me different, ’cause I’m not’ way. That’s what started this evolution for me, getting out of my Dead Petz phase,” she says of her new musical era.
Miley also explains that this album is heavily influenced by her recently rekindled relationship with Liam Hemsworth. “Dating a musician [like me] is probably the worst thing ever, because you always end up … in songs,” she tells Billboard. She goes on to add, “They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel’?”
Her photographs from Billboard show Miley with longer hair and no crazy outfits a la the MTV VMA’s 2013.
The release date and name of Miley’s album are currently unknown.
