Kind of.

According to David Yates, the director of the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and its sequel, confirmed that Dumbledore will appear in the second installment of the series.

“In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt,” Yates revealed to Screen Rant. “We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good.”

For those who have to read J.K. Rowling‘s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the series takes place in 1920s New York, several decades before Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone. However it’s all apart of the same Harry Potter universe we know and love.

Rowling previously hinted at a connection between Dumbledore and Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, the main character of Fantastic Beasts. The movie opens in theatres November 18. However, if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of some of your fave Harry Potter characters in the first film, you’re out of luck. Yates confirmed no familiar Potter faces will appear in Fantastic Beasts, which makes us even more excited for the sequel to see a young Dumbledore.

We wonder if he’ll have his epic beard! Or maybe just a really slick goatee?
