Scream Queens has officially been murdered. Fox announced today, May 15th, that the genre-bending Comedy Horror will not be returning for a third season.

While the show had an unstoppable cast (Jamie Lee Curtis, Billie Lourd, Lea Michele, Taylor Lautner), it could not save them from the ax. Fox executives commented on the cancellation stating, “Scream Queens was an anthological series. Ryan [Murphy] told the story of a group of characters he created over the course of the two seasons.” The Fox co-chair, Gary Newman, continued, “It feels as if it was a complete story, we have no plans at this point to go back there and tell more stories. We won’t be seeing Scream Queens this season.”

Sleepy Hollow and Rosewood also learned that they will not be returning to Fox this Fall, while New Girl will be returning for a brief final season to wrap things up.

RIP Scream Queens. Although, who else is thinking Hulu or Netflix will bring it back from the dead? Here’s hoping.
