Our favorite Disney stars have become some of the biggest names in Hollywood – but let’s not forget how they got started. I’ve decided to count down our favorite times stars showed up on Disney Channel shows before they got their own.

Bridgit Mendler on Good Luck Charlie
Starting at number five on our list is Bridgit Mendler. You may recognize Bridgit from her show “Good Luck Charlie” but did you know she actually used to be on Wizards of Waverly Place? Yup, Bridgit played Justin Russo’s vampire girlfriend Juliet who was over 2,000 years old. She had fangs and everything. If you were to get on her bad side, I’d have only one thing to say – good luck Charlie.

Lucy Hale on Wizards of Waverly Place
Bridgit wasn’t the only star to get her start on Wizards. Coming in at number four, before she was a Pretty Little Liar, Lucy Hale appeared in the first season of Wizards of Waverly Place. Her character Miranda was Justin’s edgy, older girlfriend and did we mention, his first kiss? I guess if you want to become a successful TV star, the trick is to date fictional character Justin Russo. He really is the most powerful wizard in the family. Why didn’t he win the family competition? Still bitter about that.
Counting down to number three is megastar Selena Gomez. You may have forgotten, but Selena was Miley Cyrus’ biggest frenemy – on TV of course. That’s right, Selena guest starred on Hannah Montana, playing rival pop star Mikayla. And the sass these two threw at each other was pretty amazing – you gotta check out the video. So much shade. I love it.
The Jonas Brothers on Hannah Montana
The number two spot goes to possibly the best celebrity cameo of 2007 – the Jonas Brothers on Hannah Montana. This one’s a real throwback – you can barely recognize these Disney stars, they’ve changed so much. In the episode, Miley becomes jealous of Nick, Joe and Kevin because of how much time her dad spends with them. But can you blame Billy Ray? It’s the Jonas Brothers! And the episode ends with a Hannah Montana / Jonas Bro collab… which turns into the coolest beach dance party ever. It truly was the best of both worlds.
Selena Gomez on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
And our number one spot goes to Selena Gomez’s Disney Channel debut. Back in 2006, Selena appeared on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Selena is so young, you probably forgot that was even her. But this wasn’t just her first Disney Channel appearance – it was also her very first kiss! That’s right, Selena later revealed that her onscreen kiss with Dylan Sprouse was her very first one. First kisses are awkward enough, imagine having to do it in front of a whole crew… and then have it immortalized in the Disney Channel vault? I guess a lifetime of superstardom MIGHT make that awkward moment… totally worth it.
