Selena Gomez Reveals What Bad Liar Really Is About

And it's not The Weeknd

When Selena Gomez released her new single “Bad Liar,” the Internet was sure the song was about her whirlwind romance with The Weeknd. However, Selena just confirmed that this theory is, well, 100% false. In a recent interview with Power 96.5 FM, she revealed that she had already been working on “Bad Liar” before she took her 90 days off (aka way before she started dating The Weeknd).

But fret not! The song still is kind of about him. As Selena explained, “‘Bad Liar’ kind of tells a story of that feeling when you’re obsessed with someone, when you are in the ‘honeymoon phase,’ I like to say.” If anyone is currently in a honeymoon phase, it’s totally Selena and her main man. “I’m a sucker for that feeling,” she added. Ugh, us too.

Look at this honeymoon phase though:

Selena went on to describe the feelings that inspired the song stating, “You just can’t play it cool. This is what I’m feeling in this exact moment, and you don’t know how to play it cool. I’m not natural, I’m very much ‘This is who I am and this is kind of what you get,’ and it’s worked out for me so far.” There’s some sound advice in there, right? No games, please, just honesty. Love it.
